The Dine With a Bajan (DWB) programme is an initiative designed to connect visitors with local hosts through authentic home-cooked dining experiences across Barbados. These Terms of Reference outline the responsibilities and expectations of guests, hosts, and BTMI in relation to the DWB programme.
By accessing or using the Dine With a Bajan (DWB) platform, whether as a guest or host, all participants agree to adhere to these Terms of Reference in full. This agreement ensures that all parties understand and comply with the standards, policies, and operational procedures established by BTMI for the proper conduct of the DWB experience.
Participation in any Dine With a Bajan (DWB) experience is entirely at the guest’s own risk. The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) serves solely as the administrator and promoter of the programme and is not directly responsible for the actions, omissions, or conduct of hosts or guests. BTMI’s liability is limited to administrative functions directly related to the platform and booking process. Neither BTMI, Dine With a Bajan, nor their affiliates shall be held liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses or damages arising from or related to participation in a DWB experience. This includes, but is not limited to, any claims or damages resulting from negligence, delays, misunderstandings, omissions, or unforeseen circumstances connected to the hosting or delivery of an experience.
All reservations made through the Dine With a Bajan (DWB) platform are automatically directed to the host selected by the guest.
Confirmation Validity
A reservation is considered valid only once successful payment has be processed and the guest receives an official confirmation email from the DWB platform. By confirming a booking, guests acknowledge and accept the Dine With a Bajan Terms of Reference, including the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
Payments
All DWB experiences require full payment at the time of booking. The total amount displayed on the platform represents the final cost of the experience, inclusive of administrative fees and applicable taxes where relevant.
Final Settlement
Once the guest has paid through the DWB platform, the transaction is considered complete and the host’s claim against the guest is settled in full. Any post-experience adjustments (such as approved refunds) will be processed solely through BTMI’s payment system.
Service Definition – For Guests
Dine With a Bajan (DWB) is a cultural tourism programme operated by the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI). The platform serves as a marketplace that connects visitors with approved hosts to enjoy authentic home-dining experiences across the island.
By making a reservation, guests enter into a direct agreement with the host delivering the experience.
At least one guest aged 18 years or older must be present at every DWB experience.
Refund Policy
Once a booking has been confirmed, a full refund will be granted only if cancellation occurs more than 5 days prior to the scheduled experience date.
Refunds, where applicable, will be processed within 10 business days to the original method of payment.
Cancellation Policy
For Guests:
Requests to reschedule must be made at least 72 hours before the confirmed experience date.
For Hosts:
Hosts are expected to honour all confirmed bookings. In the event of an emergency, the host must notify BTMI immediately to facilitate guest re-accommodation or refund.
Each host may set a minimum guest requirement for their experience. If this minimum is not met, the host reserves the right to cancel the booking.
Hosts may also exercise discretion to proceed with smaller groups on a case-by-case basis, depending on their individual capacity and preference.
Repeated cancellations by a host, without valid cause or notice, will result in suspension from the DWB platform.
For DWB:
DWB reserves the right to cancel an experience in the interest of guest safety or host readiness. In such cases, guests will receive a full refund or be offered an alternate host experience.
The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) strives to ensure that all Dine With a Bajan (DWB) experiences reflect the highest standards of Bajan hospitality and cultural authenticity. However, as each experience is created and hosted by individual Barbadian households, BTMI cannot guarantee that every listing or experience will be completely free from error or variation.
Information shown on the DWB platform, such as menus, descriptions, some imagery and host details, is provided directly by the hosts. BTMI reviews submissions with reasonable care to maintain quality and consistency, but hosts remain responsible for the accuracy and reliability of the information they share.
If a guest reports that an experience differs significantly from what was advertised, BTMI reserves the right, at its discretion, to offer a refund or partial refund and to adjust the host’s payment accordingly. This measure is intended to uphold the integrity of the programme and does not imply that BTMI assumes full liability for the host’s actions or representations.
Guests are encouraged to use their own judgment when booking and participating in DWB experiences. All information on the platform is provided “as available”, without guarantees of absolute accuracy or suitability, and BTMI makes no express or implied warranties beyond those stated in these Terms of Reference.
Please note that BTMI and the host are not responsible for delays or cancellations caused by force majeure events (e.g., weather, natural disasters, or travel disruptions).
BTMI is committed to ensuring that all DWB experiences meet the highest standards of safety, hospitality, and cultural authenticity. Guests or hosts who encounter an issue during or after a DWB experience should notify BTMI within 48 hours of the scheduled event conclusion. BTMI will review all reports in good faith and mediate between guests and hosts to reach a fair resolution.
Guests who wish to file a complaint or report an issue should contact the Dine With a Bajan (DWB) support team via email at dinewithabajant@visitbarbados.org or via the DWB platform (section…..)
To ensure a prompt review, guests are asked to include key details such as their booking reference number, a summary of the concern, and any relevant supporting material (for example, photos, receipts, or communication records).
These Terms of Reference are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Barbados. Any disputes arising in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Barbados.
